The Blessed Beginning...
This was the first show for me and I still vividly recall nearly every heartbeat...
Fortunate enough to see dozens following. Coast to coast the closest comparison I've seen is in Mountainview, CA.

Ahhh June 1991
Caught about 140 Grateful Dead concerts but none from June 1991. I like June 91. A lot. Would've been nice.
This is a great example. Wonderful song selection, the band is tight AND creative. Nice jamming, Etc.
Great soundboard. Fun show. Enjoy!

this show is so underrated. yes the night before at Giant stadium is amazing but this has some really inspired playing too. we know the Scarlet Fire is great but there are good versions of Queen Jane, Ramble On Rose, They Love Each Other and Feel Like A Stranger. Minglewood is gets goin pretty good too.

On the road again
I got Busted in Texas March of 1991. After time spent and attorney bills I was finally able to get a show in by June, first stop Pine Knob. I questioned traveling with the Dead anymore, I had a 10 year probation sentence starring me in the face. I sat waiting for the show on the 19th and that California sunshine hit me right as the beatles Sgt. Peppers cd started playing. They played the whole friggin cd, start to finish, after it ended Jerry and the boys walked out. It was 20 years ago today...I never looked back, I had been returned back from reality ... I gave it a 5 because it was night I will hold onto forever. I am the walrus... Thanks archive. BTW i got off probation march of 2001.

They came to play this night. Great scene. Although short sets as far as songs played, each one is very well played. The Scarlet>Fire was, well, on FIRE. A good time was had by all.
This is a great 91' show.
Make sure you listen to the SBD copy.

what a scene
Had eigth row and all the canadians were together. Nice sound and talk about a ray of sunshine hitting your face like the scarlet out victim wow and pine knob being so cool people camped over night.Callifornia sunshines made pine knob appear like the dead were in a disk that was lodged in the ground that they were playing out of if you went to the lawns. Probably one of the best on that tour. Me and Wolfy walked across the borderwith a cooler of beer and hitched a ride there. What an experience. Thank you GD.

the 90's Lives
man I thought they died n the 80's. But this is shear proof they live on. I saw over 100 shows from 85 to 91 -- probably the worst strecth of 6 year the dead ever had. Not that this was a bad thing -- NOT EVEN CLOSE -- but listening to the 70's and early 80's I've been wishing I had started earlier...Anyway they always rocked even when they were down. I love Jerry and the enitre scene.. made my life nice. ...
Back to this show -- wow. Scarlet Fire is ON ON ON, And the mediocore tune -- TLEO is VERY GOOD. I love this song back from the 70's, and this is the best version I've heard from the 90's. I'm gonna start litening more to the 90's.

these shows were awesome
Had a lil to much liquid refreshment if ya follow me but these shows were great hot as hell during the day but excellent venue, not alot of security aka dea etc. and good time was had by all no tickets for this 1 but remember sneaking round the side by the golf course and not only hearing but seeing the stage as well. heavely laced with keyboards and vince did excellent job. jerry forgetting or stumbling the words second verse of direwolf hilarious and enjoyable. loved this show even if i did hitchike 500 miles to see it. and whoever stole my backpack full of clothes covered in road dust hope they fit and were put to good use cus jerry sang me on home anyway!

Does anyone remember?
This was a wonderful night...hot hot day with a freakishly hot black tar parking lot but nice cool grass on the hill. The sets were solid and the playing was inspired...but i have a recollection, and forgive me if this is the mind alteration talking, but wasn't their some celestial event that happened this night? The clouds cleared as they were starting into Scarlet>Fire and everyone turned to look at the sky. Summer solstice aside...

Long live the memories of Pine Knob!
what a venue, what a weekend, what sets, and damn Phil you were taking charge!

Hem and haw, but the fact is that we all wish that we could hear anything like this these days. I'm only into the Stranger opener, and it's solid. Check it out. Thanks again, archive for reminding me that jerrry was the all-time master...

Pine Knob Rocked
The whole damn summer rocked actually, but the jams between songs on this night were amazing! At the end of Victim there was an insanity jam with Mickey crawling on top of a huge drums and banging away, the jam at the end of Scarlet is also excellent, as is the jam at the end of Fire. Well you know how this is going...big jams all night, crazy Other One, killer show.

Can't win em all
This one was predictably a snoozer comedown after the devastation of the second night of Giants Stadium. Pine Knob was a great venue, a little smaller than Deer Creek. My best memory of this show was a guy afterwards proclaiming this show was the best of the tour so far and MUCH better than the last one. Poor sap.
